If you are budgeting videotron advertising cost for Jakarta and the quotes on your desk look impossible to compare, that is normal. Indonesian DOOH operators rarely sell a single standard unit. One "one-month videotron package" can mean a 15-second slot shared with several other brands on a mid-sized screen, while another means a larger share of the loop on a landmark site with production and advertising tax included. Below are the variables that actually move the number, explained with real sites from our own inventory so you can ask the right questions before signing anything.
What drives videotron advertising cost in Jakarta
Site and facing direction
Location usually carries the most weight, but buyers new to Jakarta tend to underestimate how much the facing matters. A single structure can have two faces with very different value. LED Mega Anggrek on Jl. Arjuna Selatan in West Jakarta has Side A facing towards Tangerang and Side B facing towards Semanggi. Both are 9 x 18 m. The traffic, the peak hours and where those drivers are heading are not the same, so the two faces are priced and planned as separate products. Bandung works the same way: LED Buah Batu A faces the Padalarang toll direction, LED Buah Batu B faces central Bandung.
When a quote arrives, ask which flow of traffic reads the screen and at what time of day that flow peaks. A face that catches the morning commute into the business district reaches different people from one that catches the drive home.
Screen size and orientation
Bigger screens generally cost more, yet orientation and viewing distance often matter more than square metres. LED Jamsostek on Jl. Gatot Subroto is a single-sided 15 x 30 m portrait canvas that drivers can see from far down the road. LED JLNT Satrio A and B, by contrast, are 2 x 4 m each, facing towards Kota Kasablanka and towards Tanah Abang, and are read at much closer range. Comparing those two on a per-square-metre basis tells you nothing useful. Compare what the viewer can actually take in, from how far away, and for how many seconds.
Orientation also has a hidden cost for international brands: a global TVC master in 16:9 will not fit a portrait screen. Budget for adapting the creative, or ask the operator to do it.
Special formats such as robotic LED
LED Mandarin, mounted at the Mandarin Oriental hotel and facing Bundaran HI, is the first robotic LED in Indonesia. It has three faces, 27 x 9 m, 8 x 16 m and 27 x 9 m, and the panels move. That makes it a different purchase from a standard one-sided screen. The creative has to be choreographed around the movement, and brands usually book it for a launch or a defined moment rather than for always-on frequency. If you are considering the robotic LED at Bundaran HI, include creative development time in your plan from day one.
Slot length and share of loop
Most videotrons run a loop shared by several advertisers. Your cost depends on the length of your spot, how many times it plays per hour, and which hours you buy. A longer spot, or a bigger share of the loop, costs more; full takeovers for specific hours are quoted separately. Before paying for a 30-second slot, check whether your message genuinely needs it. On arterial roads, a short spot that repeats more often usually works harder than a long one that rarely comes around. We go into the trade-offs in our piece on videotron slot length and frequency.
Flight length
Contracts can be daily, weekly or monthly. Longer commitments tend to lower the effective daily rate, but buying three months for a two-week promotion is still waste. Match the flight to the campaign. Brands that want a permanent presence on one corridor, on the other hand, are better off with a longer contract than with month-by-month renewals.
Season and availability
Demand in Indonesia follows the retail calendar. From October onwards, prime Jakarta screens start filling with 11.11, 12.12, Christmas and New Year campaigns, and the same squeeze happens ahead of Ramadan and Lebaran. During those windows there is less room to negotiate and fewer hours to choose from. For a December push, site decisions should ideally be locked in October. Our year-end campaign planning guide lays out the timeline.
Number of sites and cities
Buying several sites together changes the structure of the quote and lets you cover multiple corridors with one creative and one schedule. As a factual example, Permata has run on LED Dukuh Atas, LED Jamsostek, LED Mega Anggrek B, LED Satrio and LED Slipi, which together span Sudirman, Gatot Subroto, Kuningan and the western approach into the city. Outside Jakarta, our network includes the 6 x 12 m LED JPO Metropolitan Mall Bekasi, screens at Masjid Raya and Warung Jambu in Bogor, and Buah Batu, Riau and Sunda in Bandung. Bundling cities into one proposal keeps contracting and reporting simpler for regional teams.
Production, advertising tax and reporting
These lines are often missing from the first page of a proposal, which is why two numbers that look identical can turn out to be quite different. Before comparing, find out:
- Whether you supply finished files or need production and adaptation to each screen's resolution and ratio.
- Whether local advertising tax (pajak reklame) and permits are included or billed separately.
- Whether field photos and a broadcast report are provided during the flight.
- Whether the content needs approval from the building owner or must follow specific content rules before it goes live.
Advertising tax and permit rules vary by city and change over time. Do not rely on assumptions from another market; ask our team which components apply to the sites you shortlist.
Reading the differences between sites
| Site | City | Size | Facing | What affects the cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LED Mandarin | Jakarta | 27 x 9 m, 8 x 16 m, 27 x 9 m (3 sides) | Bundaran HI | Robotic format, creative built around panel movement |
| LED Dukuh Atas | Jakarta | 7 x 14 m, 1 side | Jl. Jend. Sudirman to Senayan | Office corridor with morning and evening peaks |
| LED Slipi | Jakarta | 9 x 18 m, 1 side | To Semanggi | Inbound flow from the west towards the centre |
| LED Mega Anggrek A | Jakarta | 9 x 18 m, 1 side | To Tangerang | Outbound flow west, a different audience from Side B |
| LED Senopati | Jakarta | 8 x 4 m, 1 side | To SCBD | Smaller screen in a dining and office district |
| LED Riau B | Bandung | 4 x 8 m, 1 side | To BIP / central Bandung | Different city scale, often bundled with other Bandung faces |
LED Slipi and LED Mega Anggrek B are both 9 x 18 m and both face towards Semanggi, but they sit on different roads. Booked together, they put one creative in front of two separate traffic flows.
How to brief for quotes you can compare
- Campaign objective: launch, time-limited promotion or long-term presence.
- Target cities and the corridors closest to your stores, offices or audience.
- Start date, flight length and how flexible those dates are.
- Length and original aspect ratio of your existing creative.
- Whether you need production or adaptation support.
- A budget range, so site recommendations stay realistic.
With that brief, we can put together a few scenarios side by side, for example one landmark screen with a heavier share of loop against three mid-sized screens on different corridors, and you choose on a like-for-like basis.
Where budgets usually leak
The first leak is paying for a large screen and running creative designed for a phone. Small copy and a corner logo cannot be read from dozens of metres away, so the size you paid for does nothing. The second is spreading a budget across too many sites for too short a flight; no single corridor sees the ad often enough to remember it. The third is booking late in peak season, when the face you wanted is taken and the remaining options point at the wrong traffic.
